Major Attractions of Kerala

1. Alleppey

Alappuzha or Alleppey is best known for cruise steers on a houseboat. Cochin International Airpirt is the closest major airport to Alleppey. The place is famous for its boat races, beaches, Backwater trips, marine products and houseboat stays.

2. Thekkady or Periyar

It is home to the famous Periyar wildlife sanctuary. You can take a boat cruise over Lake Periyar to see the wildlife. Take an elephant safari to see inside the forest. You can find various wildlife species like elephants, tigers, deer, bison and much more.

3. Munnar

The main tourist attractions are Mattupetty which offers sailing facilities, Pothamedu and Attukal are ideal places for trekking and long mountain walks where you can experience the fresh mountain air and the SITA DeviLake ideal for the trout fishing.

4. Wayand

You can find trains from all the other important places to Wayand. The main tourist attractions are Banasura Sagar Dam, Kurava Island, Lake Karlad which has the Wayanad Adventure Camp, Tree House Resorts and Thirunelli Temple, surrounded by beautiful hills and forests.

Seafood is very popular here. Seafish such as tuna, sardines, seer fish and Molly fish made from pearl spot fish, Backwater fish such as crabs, prawns, oysters, etc. ONAM, the Kerala State Festival held between August and September.

Day 4:

Munnar Mountains Day Tour – In the morning, from here, continue by jeep to the starting point of today’s hike in a quiet and beautiful valley. The trek goes through valleys of rhododendrons, rain forest and reaches Meesapullimala, which is approx. 2600 meters of altitude. Return to Camp in the afternoon.

Day 5:

Munnar -Thekkady and Gavi (Located in Periyar Tiger Reserve) – Morning departure to Periyar National Park, also known as Thekkady. Afternoon jeep safari in Periyar National Park

Day 6:

Thekkady – Heldagstur – Full day excursion to the forest, where you may be lucky enough to see rare butterflies, birds, lion-tailed macaques, elephants and Indian bison.

Day 7:

Thekkady – Alleppey – Kayak Trip Morning drive to Alleppey. Later in the day, it’s time for an unforgettable kayak trip in the small channels that connect the larger backwater areas. You get up close to local life and you can see people bathing, washing clothes or washing dishes in the river, plus many of the houses are situated along the canals.

Day 8:

Houseboat in Alleppey – Afternoon table in houseboat. Relax on the deck of the boat as the scenery floats by and your crew provides you with snacks and food. At sunset, the ship anchors and you can enjoy the starry sky and a pleasant dinner on deck.
